Introduction

Southern Taiwan is a stronghold of agriculture and traditional industry. It escalates the differences between the North and the South. Infrastructure investment in the South is strongly needed and our government plays an active role in providing the resources for transfiguration and escalation of the enterprises in southern Taiwan.

For escalation of the new industry, Taiwan Science Based Industrial Park (TSIP), Luchu Science Park (LSP), Biomedical Science Park and Center of Asia Manufacture are established in sequel.

New infrastructures are built which include the multifunction Trading Park, Kaoshiung Mass Radip Transport (MSP), Taiwan High Speed Rail and Kaoshiung Sea Port project.

To meet the demands of the establishment of new industries and the proliferation of new infrastructures, the college of Engineering seeks a role, which meets the government policy and the social development duty, to provide a research platform, to incubate excellent engineers, to support the transfiguration of traditional industry into high tech industry, to establish new enterprises and to evolve into an exquisite city/country environment. It is not only the goal of the college of Engineering but also the mission of National University of Kaoshiung.

History
