Library facilities and resources

With the rapid growth of technology, the form of information has been diversified. The application of audio-visual, digital, and electronic materials to both research and learning is also becoming popular. To support the mid- to long-term planning of the school affairs and supplement teaching and research, the Library adopts an open shelf policy in addition to loan service. Besides Reading Area and Book Collection Area, the Library is also equipped with the following areas to fulfill different requirements of different patrons ĄG

  • Some 1000 reading seats with wireless internet access points are available to users.
  • Three seminar rooms with OHP equipment are available for group discussion and instruction. The seminars room can only be reserved by staff.
  • Twenty-four study carrels are available to postgraduates for dissertation research.
  • The Audio-Visual Learning Area is divided into Audio-Visual Material Collection Area, Individual Learning Area (39 seats), Audio-Visual Material Playing Area (12 seats), Music Area (24 seats), and Database Retrieval Area (4 seats). There are also one multifunctional laboratory and two group-use laboratories.

Library service
University readers may use a valid NUK ID to gain entry to the library. However, the Library is also open to the general public. All users without a valid NUK ID must present a valid photo ID (identification, driving licence, NHI IC card, and residence permit) and exchange a library card at the circulation counter for library entrance. Users may enjoy the library book collection, serials, multi-media materials, and on-line resources. In addition to the wireless internet service, reading seats with fixed web points are available to users with laptops.
Circulation service
With the exception of reference material, periodicals and multimedia resources, all general collections can be checked out to users with a valid NUK/Library card, including the staff and students of NUK, part-time teachers, family dependents of the staff, alumni, credit-class students, extension education students, and ILCA members.
